Wryneck
Jynx torquilla
The Wryneck is a rare visitor to Severnside with just a handful of records;

June and August 1976 at Severn Beach, August 1984 on Northwick Warth, August 2003 at the Grebe Pond on Northwick Warth, one in September 2003 at Severn Beach near the pipes and the individual below again at the Grebe Pond on Northwick Warth that was trapped on August 30th 2010 remaining in the area of the target mound and pond until 3rd September. Another was found in gardens at New Passage August 31st 2014.

Finally an image of the bird 70 metres away from me being mobbed by a Whitethroat.
A few moments after it was found in the bottom pocket of the mist net....
