Temminck’s Stint
Calidris temminckii
.
I was lucky to find the first Severnside record in the wader roost at Severn Beach in May 2004 when I heard an unusual but distinctive trill of a wader calling. Amazingly 12 years later in May 2016 I heard the same call over Pilning Wetland and was amazed to see the 2nd Severnside Temminck’s Stint land in front of me. Up until May 2026 there have now been 8 records involving 9 birds, occurring in May, June and July and we still wait for an Autumn record. Click HERE for some Youtube video of the July 2017 bird that spent part of it’s stay in Chestle Pill at New Passage.
